Conquering Infertility through YOGA

After losing weight through Yoga ,my next challenge is to conceive , which I was trying more than years. All medical treatments and experiments done on my body but nothing worked. After reproductive trauma , series of three miscarriage and repeated failure of treatments made me emotionally weak. Its absolutely heart breaking, when pregnancy test come negative made me feel empty womb aching heart. As much as I wanted to share my stories or feelings,I kept a lot under my hat.

It was the most emotional roller-coaster time I have ever been on. From extreme highs to devastating lows. Constant questioning of what is wrong with me, my body, was I that unlucky? I read every forum, every blog about strong women enduring multiple miscarriages even up to 10, their struggles both emotionally and mentally. It helped and made me address the thoughts in my head and really dissect the situation for my own mental health.

Getting on the yoga mat helped me stay balanced during the most stressful time. It also helped calm me during some of the toughest days after I had miscarried. As said Yoga is a way of life and yoga gave me a life, a beautiful soul/beautiful daughter.

In this journey Yoga has helped me make this journey successful. There are things which doctor never explained reason behind infertility, I tried to find through yoga. Before fighting with infertility we have to fight with these main things :
  •  Infertility thoughts.
  •  Fight with social shyness
  •  Fight with unnecessary stress

Why yoga was instrumental in helping me during my journey to conceive. Here are reasons:

  •  Reduce Stress
  •  Increase blood flow to the uterus
  • Strengthens the immune system
  •  Improve ovarian function
  •  Improve hormonal imbalances
  • Increases success rates of conceiving
Studies show "pranayam"
(breath control) and "meditation"are tools for stress-reducing activities that produce positive changes in the immune system. Learning to listen to the body’s natural rhythms through yoga and breathing can bring a deep sense of peace and connection to our own innate healing capacity. It helped me feel more empowered during my journey to conceive.

Either you are trying naturally or medically, here are some tips on preparing for Pregnancy.

  • Breathe deeply
  • Energize your belly
  • Make your body a welcoming home
  • Connect to your heart.
In infertility, often times we see blockages in some area of the body, specifically below the waist. Practicing a yoga pose called pigeon helped open up hips, glutes and thighs. The energy begins to move in the lower regions of the body.Practicing certain yoga poses like legs up the wall increase blood circulation to the pelvis and near the ovaries. When you invert the body in yoga, it increases blood flow to the reproductive organs which means increased oxygen capacity and more nutrients to the reproductive organs .

I’m not a doctor, an OB, nor knowledgeable in anyway in this area. This is not for media purposes, nor am I getting paid to share this! This is my journey, shared on my personal blog to hopefully help other couples going through similar situations. This has taken months to write and post and has been my hardest post to date.

Before finishing this article, I want to name the person who really transformed my life in the best way imaginable . Ashok Sharma ,The Guruji of “YOGA DIVYA MANDIR” , rawatbhata (Rajasthan ).It is a gift and a great privilege to be able to experience the practice of yoga. There have been times when tears have streamed down my face in savasana and it really helps me to clear my emotional blockages.

Thanks to you, I have grown as a person, proved to myself the true strength I have, become more aware and have ultimately started living a better life with a title of mother.
