What 21 days of yoga taught me about motherhood

For the past 21 days, I have committed to a practice of bettering myself, moving my body, and becoming more deeply aware of my motherhood. After the birth of my baby, I jumped back into exercise and motherhood, foolishly hoping that all of my routines would pick off where they left off. But after a stint at a pelvic floor physical therapist and weeks readjusting to motherhood, another version of my post-partum body, and living life, everything needed gentleness… and a BIG break. In an effort to heal myself during this time, I dedicated myself to a yoga practice in a way I never have before. All of my greatest shifts happen when I commit fully, so I opted in for a 21days practice of yoga, allowing my body to heal and my mind to accept whatever my body was able to produce. What happened over these 21 days changed my physical body, and offered me a new sense of grace for all the parts of me, on and off the mat. It is often forgotten that motherhood, like yoga, is a daily practice. There...

"Happy Mother's Day" to all the wonderful moms and maternal figures out there! This post is in no way intended to take away from a worthy day of celebration and   gratitude   However, the truth is, this day can be tough for those who struggle with grief ,  loss, and/or infertility. After reproductive trauma , series of three miscarriage and repeated failure of treatments made me emotionally weak. Its absolutely heart breaking, when pregnancy test come negative made me feel empty womb aching heart. As much as I wanted to share my stories or feelings,I kept a lot under my hat. It was the most emotional roller-coaster time I have ever been on. From extreme highs to devastating lows. Constant questioning of what is wrong with me, my body, was I that unlucky? I read every forum, every blog about strong women enduring multiple miscarriages even up to 10, their struggles both emotionally and mentally. It helped and made me address the thoughts in my head and really dissect the situation for my own mental health. Getting on the yoga mat helped me stay balanced during the most stressful time. I...

Lesson I learnt from my own YOGA SESSION :PriaMantra

Image
Yoga has been a constant in my life for many years. Granted, it took me a long time to advance and deepen my practice. When I first began, I saw yoga as purely about the poses and getting a good sweat. As practice is growing, I had a growing desire to do something meaningful with my life—to help others, and to offer something to the world that would have a positive impact. After much research and introspection, I applied to the teacher training program of my choice. I was accepted, and thus my journey began. Teacher training gave me a solid foundation in yoga history and philosophy, anatomy, pranayama, and sequencing (with a heavy focus on vinyasa). What it didn’t prepare me for was the practical reality of teaching. Teaching fellow trainees in your training program is one thing while teaching those who may never have taken a yoga class before is quite a different experience. I had to learn how to keep myself calm and balanced through my classes, even when I had a roomful of stu...
